Hand-Painted Elements Created to Support Amazoonico Wildlife Rescue Center

Scarlet Macaw-No tail feathers-designed to fit on a branch hiding in brush

ABOUT THE ART

My love for philanthropy, animals, birds, and the natural beauty of Ecuador inspired me to create this piece in support of the wonderful rescue work amaZOOnico does.

The primary wildlife rescue center and "zoo" focused on rehabilitation in the Ecuadorian Amazon is amaZOOnico, located in the Napo province near Tena. It is a sanctuary that cares for animals rescued from illegal trafficking, such as monkeys, parrots, and caimans, often aiming to rehabilitate them for release back into the wild.

Key details about amaZOOnico:

  • Location: Situated along the Napo River, southeastern Ecuador.
  • Purpose: Founded in 1993, it acts as a rescue center, not a traditional zoo, caring for over 200 animals that cannot be returned to the wild
